Four Portraits
of Jim: Snare Drum Suite in 4 Mvts-Murray Houllif - $10.00
Dedicated to well known percussion educator Jim Petercsak, this work is
a Grade 6 “tour de force” of styles & sounds
for solo snare drum written by Murray Houllif, a prolific composer of
outstanding percussion music. The 4 movements – “Paradiddle
Jim” – “Jazzy Jim” – “Senor Jim”
– Contemporary Jim” – exploit differing aspects of snare
drum technique and sonorities. In its entirety, this work is an
excellent mature recital choice, or selected individual movements can
be used for contest or study.

This Grade 1-2 drumset solo introduces the player to common patterns
that one needs for playing drumset in an ensemble, be it a school
jazz, pep, or concert band, or a garage band or praise band. All solos
in this series include a “mini lesson” page.

This Grade 2 drumset solo will be enjoyable to play and helpful in developing
the skills of the drumset player, including techniques for correct playing
of the hi-hat cymbals.
6 Bits :Drumset Solo – Jeffrey Parthun, Sr. - $4.00
This Grade 3 drumset solo will aid the player in developing a good
triplet or “swing” feel as used in many contemporary hit
rock, jazz, and Latin tunes. This solo, as all of the drumset
solos in the series, is written for a standard 4 piece drumset (snare,
bass, attached tom, floor tom, hi-hat pedal cymbals, and ride and/or crash
cymbal).
Un poco Paco: Multiple Percussion Solo – Jeffrey Parthun,

This Grade 1-2 piece is a great introduction to the skills needed to play
multiple percussion solos. The “mini lesson” included
describes how the one player should set up and execute the playing of
the snare drum, tom-tom, suspended cymbal, and maraca, all with smooth
movements.
Don Que: Snare Drum Solo – James L. Moore - $4.00
Don Que (originally published in The Solo Snare Drummer Vol.1),
is now available as a high quality single publication ideal for contest
performance and study. This Grade 4 solo features challenging interplay
between 6/8 & 3/4 meters with interesting quasi-rudimental rhythmic
development.
Rampy One: Snare Drum Solo –James L. Moore - $4.00
Rampy One is a solo of only moderate difficulty (Grade 2-3) that uses
rhythmic material derived from a cadence used by the Ohio State University
Marching Band percussion section. An excellent short solo for the
developing snare drummer.
